Information from his service record held at the National Archives of Australia:
Stanley Chatterton enlisted on the 12th September 1914 at Bendigo, Victoria, Australia. He was employed as a farm hand, and had previously served in the Royal Army Medical Corps in England.
He stated his next of kin as his father, William Chatterton, of 15, Wilfred Street, Derby. Five feet eight inches tall, he weighed 9 stone 7 pounds, was of a fair complexion, had brown eyes and light brown hair, and was a Methodist.
Upon his death, personal effects returned to his father were as follows: letters, a gift box, postcards, a shaving brush, soap, a patent lighter, active service dispatches, a souvenir of Assanon, a razor and brush, a disc, a whistle, a knife, a chain, a testament, cards, a purse, a gold ring and nine coins.
